From solar panels gleaming under the Indian sun to efficient cookstoves transforming kitchens across rural communities, Zenitech’s latest sustainability milestone reaches far beyond its office walls. We can now self-certify as carbon neutral after receiving our Certificate of Carbon Offset from Carbon Footprint LTD on July 17, 2025.
But don’t mistake this achievement for a finish line – it’s actually just the start.
“Carbon offsetting is powerful when done right and in conjunction with official projects, but it’s not a free pass,” explains Matt Long, CFO. “We’re treating this as step one in a much bigger transformation, not a reason to stop pushing for real emissions reductions and fully transparent ESG reporting.”
The numbers game
Since 2021, Zenitech has been meticulously tracking every kilowatt, every business trip, and every sheet of paper. Their 2024 carbon audit was their most comprehensive yet, capturing everything from the obvious culprits – office electricity and employee commutes – to the easily overlooked ones like wastewater treatment and home-working emissions.
The result? A complete picture of their 580 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions, now balanced by carefully selected offset projects.
Where your carbon goes
Rather than simply writing a cheque, Zenitech chose projects that create lasting change. Their offset portfolio includes 500 tonnes through solar power generation in India, 80 tonnes via efficient cookstove distribution that reduces harmful emissions and improves health outcomes, plus 58 trees now growing in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley.
Each project represents communities gaining access to cleaner energy and healthier living conditions – a reminder that effective climate action creates ripple effects far beyond carbon calculations.
The real work begins
While we’ve offset our measured emissions for 2024, we’re also actively reducing our greenhouse gas emissions as part of an ambitious, ongoing Net Zero plan – offsetting is just one part of the journey, and our real focus now is on lasting, measurable change.
This is an important step in our sustainability (and wider ESG) journey, and we want to thank everyone at Zenitech for playing a part, whether by travelling responsibly, working more efficiently and planning ahead, reducing waste, or simply being mindful of our impact.
