The Role

Zenitech is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior IT System Administrator to join its IT Support Team in Budapest, Hungary. You will be part of a distributed, multicultural team supporting Zenitech’s operations across multiple locations.

This senior technical role combines advanced end-user support with system administration and infrastructure management. You’ll take ownership of ensuring smooth and secure IT operations, supporting Windows, Linux, and Mac users, and managing both cloud and on-prem environments, including Google Workspace, Atlassian, and Microsoft technologies.

Alongside senior-level troubleshooting and problem-solving, you will contribute to process improvement, service reliability, and infrastructure planning, while also acting as a key escalation point for complex technical issues. This position requires both hands-on technical expertise and the ability to drive improvements in systems, processes, and team practices.

What you will do

  • Provide senior-level technical support and continuously optimize a wide range of infrastructure technologies – including cloud platform, network equipment, physical and virtual servers, workstations, and more.
  • Create clear documentation and internal guides, and contribute to long-term planning across cybersecurity, networking, and overall infrastructure strategy.
  • Oversee the setup and configuration of workstations for new team members, ensuring smooth onboarding and providing guidance on resolving hardware and software issues when needed.
  • Work hands-on with the latest technologies, contributing to the development of new solutions and the improvement of existing systems and processes.
  • Continuously expand your knowledge in relevant areas, with opportunities to deepen your expertise and take on more advanced responsibilities within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience, OR a minimum of 5 years of proven IT system administration experience without a degree. Other relevant professional certifications or qualifications will be considered an advantage.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in Microsoft environments, covering both on-prem infrastructure (e.g., Hyper-V, Domain Controllers) and modern cloud-based services (e.g,. Azure, Entra, Intune, Autopilot).
  • Extensive experience with multi-platform systems, including deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting across Windows, Linux, macOS – on both servers and workstations.
  • Proven ability to manage and optimize end-user tools, such as Google Workspace, JIRA, and Confluence, with an emphasis on integration and efficiency.
  • Advanced knowledge of networking, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure, with a track record of supporting complex environments and contributing to infrastructure design.
  • Strong analytical mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving, capable of diagnosing and resolving challenging hardware and software issues across various environments.
  • Experience in mentoring a service desk or systems administration team, or operating in a senior support / technical role.
  • Experience in asset management, including procurement optimization and inventory tracking, and lifecycle management.
  • Fluent in Hungarian and English (spoken and written).
