The Role

We’re looking for a mid-level Java Developer to join our team working on a system that manages motorway traffic signs – the ones that inform drivers about accidents, bad weather, or road closures, and help redirect traffic when needed.

The project you’d be working on focuses on a new feature that would let the system switch multiple signs in a given area at once. This is especially important during major incidents where fast rerouting across several road sections is critical.

What you will do

  • Writing clean, reliable Java code to support new feature development
  • Working on well-scoped tasks as part of a larger, milestone-based delivery plan
  • Contributing to discussions around technical design and implementation
  • Supporting testing efforts and checking your own work carefully before handover
  • Gradually helping improve and modernize parts of the system where needed

Requirements

  • Around 3–5 years of experience in Java development (JDK8+)
  • Solid knowledge of Maven
  • Confident working with SQL and PL/SQL (we use MySQL, SQL Server, Firebird)
  • Experience with SOAP and REST APIs
  • Familiarity with messaging systems like ActiveMQ (or RabbitMQ or similar)
  • Basic experience with Docker (mostly for local testing and development)
  • Comfortable doing functional manual testing
  • Able to handle assigned tasks independently and collaborate with a team
  • Bonus points if you’ve worked with systems like Keycloak, GeoServer, or OpenLayers
  • And if you enjoy untangling older codebases and helping improve them over time, that’s even better!
  • Native Hungarian and strong English language knowledge is a must.

    What we offer

    • Hybrid working model with remote work opportunities (*) and flexible working hours
    • Private Health Insurance
    • People Lead system for your personal development
    • A culture of continuous growth, providing various training resources
    • Referral System
    • Agile mindset, simplified processes, and a great atmosphere where commitment and autonomy are celebrated
    • A community-first mindset working with talented people across technology products and consulting

(*) As we hire permanent employees for this role, we offer remote opportunities only in Romania, and Hungary.

    Additional benefits based on location:

    Hungary:
    • 20 vacation days, increasing according to labour law
    • Extensive cafeteria package tailored to your needs (including SZÉP card)
    • Commuting allowance
    Romania:
    • 24 vacation days, increased based on the work tenure
    • 2 emergency days
    • Meal tickets
    • Opportunity to work abroad for 1 month
