The Role
We are looking for a Java Technical Lead / Senior Backend Developer to join our backend engineering group and contribute to the design, development, and improvement of large-scale, high-performance backend systems. You will work within a cross-functional Agile team and help drive the implementation of technical solutions aligned with architectural guidelines and business objectives.
In this role, you will collaborate with product owners, architects, DevOps engineers, and other developers to build reliable, scalable services and integrations. Depending on project needs, you may be assigned to one of our strategic backend initiatives, contributing either to new product development or the enhancement of existing platforms.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership, guiding teams technically, and delivering high-quality solutions in a collaborative environment.
What you will do
- Lead the design and implementation of backend services, RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and server-side logic.
- Ensure backend solutions align with architectural direction, performance expectations, and long-term business goals.
- Guide the development of clean, scalable, and maintainable code following industry standards and best practices.
- Design, optimize, and maintain relational and NoSQL database schemas.
- Develop efficient data access layers, complex queries, and stored procedures.
- Work with data systems such as MSSQL, Redis, and cloud-based storage options.
- Integrate with third-party APIs, external services, and enterprise systems.
- Work with messaging platforms such as JMS, Artemis, AMQ, Azure Service Bus, or Kafka (depending on project).
- Support event-driven and real-time processing architectures where required.
- Implement unit, integration, and API tests to ensure reliability.
- Drive a culture of quality through code reviews, mentoring, and enforcing best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of coding standards, processes, and tooling.
- Collaborate with DevOps engineers on CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and system observability.
- Ensure smooth delivery to test and production environments.
- Contribute to performance tuning, scalability improvements, and system stability.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, QA, DevOps, PMs, BAs, and architects.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, grooming, retrospectives).
- Proactively contribute to task analysis, refinement, and breaking down complex work.
Requirements
- Strong experience with Java (17+)
- Spring Framework, Spring Boot, ReactiveJ, WebFlux
- Maven, including multi-module setups
- REST and GraphQL API development
- Understanding of OpenAPI principles
- Database experience with MSSQL, Redis, and other relational/NoSQL storage technologies
- Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar), including cloud-based storage and serverless or managed compute services
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or similar)
- Experience with messaging systems: JMS, Artemis, AMQ, Azure Service Bus; Kafka is a plus
- Testing experience with JUnit, Mockito
- Exposure to test automation practices is a plus
- Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect
- Experience with WebSockets
