About the role
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Budapest, Hungary. In this role, you will work closely with the local team to support daily operations while also partnering with global teams across the UK, Romania, and Lithuania.
As our company continues to grow, our international finance team is implementing a new accounting system globally, and we are looking for someone who will play a key role in ensuring its successful integration locally. You will leverage this system to enhance smooth financial operations and drive process improvements. Our team is working with AccountsIQ, but don’t worry if you haven’t heard about it – we will get you up to speed.
Reporting into the HU Finance Lead, this is an exciting opportunity to collaborate internationally, while also mentoring and supporting colleagues within the local Finance team. If you have wide experience in accounting and are looking to make a significant impact, we’d love to hear from you!
What you’ll do:
- Collaborate with the wider, international finance team on the implementation of a new accounting system (for internal management reporting purposes only – local statutory reporting and tax is handled by external accountants)
- Collaborate with the local finance team and coordinate 2 more junior team members while reporting to HU finance lead
- Oversee the following tasks done by the team and make sure the processes are running smoothly (entering purchase invoices, sales invoices, bank transactions, fixed assets and different general ledger journals)
- Process bank payments and bank reconciliations
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
- Participate in period-end closing procedures
- Assist with annual statutory financial audit
- Participate in project-related accounting including cost allocation
- Prepare standard and ad hoc reports
- Prepare P&L report
- Manage the fixed asset register
- Manage prepayments & accruals
- Contribute to wider initiatives / projects with international Finance team (budgeting, system rolls out, cash forecasting)
- Collaborate with HR team and solve payroll queries, and be a part of a monthly payroll data preparation process
Skills and qualities we appreciate:
- Strong accounting knowledge and 3-5 years of experience in accounting
- Experience using accounting software and tools
- Strong detail-oriented mindset, reasoning and decision making
- Smooth collaboration skills, willingness to support and mentor others
- Quick adaptability and willingness to learn more about accounting aspects from colleagues in other countries
- Ability to prioritise and complete tasks on deadlines
- Fluent Hungarian and English language skills
- Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting or similar
- You will be working with AccountsIQ implementation, all trainings and support will be provided
