Cultivating frontier-level insight

Zenitech, the engineering-led technology consultancy known for its challenger thinking and deep technical expertise, today announced the investment of a dedicated technology laboratory at Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). Based within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (Department of Automation and Applied Informatics), the facility marks a significant evolution in a long-standing  partnership that remains central to how Zenitech delivers world-class solutions for its clients.

The new laboratory represents a deepening of an existing strategic, multi-year alliance, Zenitech and BME established in 2022. For Zenitech, the laboratory is more than a philanthropic investment. It is a strategic asset. The company’s close collaboration with BME has long been a source of competitive advantage – providing access to cutting-edge academic research, joint projects with leading professors, and early engagement with postgraduate talent working at the frontier of their fields. This investment formalises and accelerates that relationship, creating a dedicated space where students, postgrads and university researchers can tackle real commercial challenges and bring genuinely new thinking to client solutions.

Zenitech’s model is built upon applying rigorous technical analysis to validate and challenge assumptions, identify the most effective engineering solution before a single line of code is written but always aligned to specific client objectives. The BME laboratory enhances Zenitech’s capabilities to provide more world-class development  and the ability to bring frontier-level insights into what is possible.

“This partnership is about fostering a truly reciprocal ecosystem. We want students to enter this lab and experience the intersection of ambition and opportunity – to develop as engineers and strategic thinkers who are thoroughly prepared for the challenges industry will throw at them.

Crucially, we are also here to learn, to challenge our own perspectives, and to leverage the work undertaken in this facility to drive genuine innovation. The bridge between academic excellence and industry application is precisely where the most compelling problems are solved. This space represents a live, operational connection between the vanguard of research and the demands of the global market. We are exceptionally proud to invest in this relationship, and we fully intend to maximise its potential.

A history of collaboration

The lab provides an ideal environment for undergraduate and postgraduate students across BME’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics to complete compulsory and elective courses, or to participate in advanced R&D projects.

Zenitech engineers have contributed to this collaborative effort for years through mentoring, guest lectures, and hands-on cooperation – helping to shape graduates who are equipped not only with technical acumen, but with the problem-solving mindset and professional rigour required by the industry.

Tangible value for global clients

For Zenitech’s clients, this stronger partnership represents a tangible differentiator. Building on BME’s top-tier R&D results and access to talented students and staff means that solutions are informed by academic insights that sit ahead of the commercial mainstream. Whether deploying custom AI development, managing complex systems engineering, or resolving the deep technical challenges that off-the-shelf products cannot address, the new laboratory provides an invaluable bridge between cutting-edge discovery and commercial delivery.

For organisations grappling with problems that off-the-shelf technology cannot resolve; whether that is exploring what is possible through advanced applied research, or simply pressure-testing an early proof-of-concept, the door to this collaboration is open. Zenitech welcomes the conversation, wherever it starts: a defined R&D challenge, a half-formed idea, or a question about what frontier thinking could unlock for your business. “Zenitech’s investment strengthens our ability to provide clients with another route to evaluate and to solve technical challenges, whilst retaining the focus upon creating solutions that deliver distinct competitive advantage.” Dr Sam Kingston,  CEO Zenitech
